The movement of cargo in the Brazilian port sector grew 9.23% during the first five months of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. According to the Waterway Statistics panel of ANTAQ (the national waterway transport agency), 484.7 million tons of cargo passed through the country’s terminals.
Between January and May, private ports registered an increase of 9.27% in cargo transport, which is equivalent to 315.5 million tons of cargo. Public registered 9.14% more, reaching more than 169 million tons.
