Brazil’s traditional spirit, the cachaça, has generated over US$ 20 million in exports throughout 2022, marking a growth of 52.38% compared to 2021. Entities are working together in a Sectoral Export Promotion Project and an Export Qualification Program to boost this distilled spirit’s standing in international trade.
Cachaça, the second most beloved alcoholic beverage among Brazilians, trailing only beer, is increasingly winning over consumers worldwide. Last year, exports made a significant leap, breaking records for the past twelve years. In 2022, exports amounted to US$ 20.08 million, according to data from ComexStat (Ministry of Economy), compiled by the Brazilian Institute of Cachaça (IBRAC). This represents an increase of 52.8% compared to 2021. There was a 29.03% increase in volume, totaling more than 9.3 million liters.
In 2022, the beverage was exported to over 75 countries, with the main destination countries (in terms of value) being the United States, Germany, Portugal, France, and Italy.
