Chinese demand for beef remains very heated this year. And Brazil, which offers quality meat at competitive prices and in high volumes, continues to supply record amounts of animal protein to the Asian country.
According to governmental data, Brazilian beef shipments to China totaled 130,880 tonnes in August. This historical record represents more than half (57.2%) of the entire amount of beef shipped to all destinations (from 228,000 tonnes).
According to Brazil’s foreign trade authorities, about 106 thousand tonnes were sent to China in August 2021, compared to only 78.2 thousand tonnes in the same month of 2020.
It is noteworthy that market players consulted by pollsters from the University of Sao Paulo believe that shipments will continue intense in the coming months, given the typical increase in exports to China in the second half of the year, to build up inventories.
