Brazil’s National Council of Export Processing Zones (EPZ) approved, on Tuesday, Dec 20, the installation of an oil refinery by the company Noxis Energy. The decision was featured in the country’s Official Gazette.

According to the company’s CEO, Gabriel Debellian, the investment required for the project is US$ 1.1 billion.

The asset will be built in the São Gonçalo do Amarante region.

The company is authorized to produce LPG, Gasoline A, Automotive Diesel, Maritime Diesel (MGO), and Maritime Fuel Oil (Bunker) – distillate and residual. Residual fuel is suitable for large ships. The distillate serves to supply vessels of smaller size and power.

The refinery will be able to process 100,000 barrels/day and produce fuel oil, with an eye on maritime transport sector demand. Approximately 60 thousand barrels will be commercialized a day.
