Brazilian exports of fresh fruit have achieved a remarkable performance level in recent years, with record sales for many products. If the external scenario remains favorable, the sector should reach its target of US$ 1 billion in the export market. The estimate is from CEPEA (Brazil’s center for advanced research in applied economics).
In 2020, despite many uncertainties due to the pandemic, fruit sector performance had already been quite positive, coming very close to the target. Last year, the revenue collected was US$ 935.4 million.
“The revenue result is fantastic and this makes us believe that by the end of the year we will be able to reach our goal of US$ 1 billion in exported fruit. This will be possible due to the quality of our product since we all have international certificates for sales abroad”, said Guilherme Coelho, the president of ABAFRUTAS (the Brazilian association of producers and exporters of fruit and its derivatives).
