PLANTING PACE OF BRAZIL’S 2021/22 SOYBEAN CROP IS 2ND FASTEST ON RECORD

03/11/2021

The planting pace of the 2021/22 soybean crop in Brazil is the second-fastest ever recorded. According to consulting firm AgRural on November 1st, this means a relatively large planting window for the second corn crop, to be sown after the soybean harvest.

The accelerated planting should also provide an earlier supply of soybeans from the new crop compared to last year for the largest producer and exporter of the oilseed, according to the consulting firm.

Up until last Thursday, soybean planting had reached 52% of the projected area against 38% a week before and 42% in the same period last year, according to data supplied by AgRural.

“For the third week in a row, planting is the second-fastest in history, behind only the 2018/19 crop,” said AgRural, citing that the advance is due to more abundant and regular rains in October.
