TRADE SURPLUS TOTALS $1.389 BI FOR THE WEEK TO AUGUST 22

Brazil had a trade surplus of US$ 1.389 billion in the week ended August 22, a result of US$ 6 billion in exports and US$ 4.6 billion in imports – which represents daily averages of US$ 1. 2 billion and US$ 916.7 million, respectively, according to data released by the Ministry of Economy. The trade flow in the period was US$ 10.6 billion.

From August to the 22nd, the trade surplus totaled US$ 4.631 billion, reflecting US$ 17.661 billion in exports and US$ 13.03
billions in imports.

From the beginning of January up to  August 22, the Brazilian trade balance had a positive balance of US$ 49.8 billion, compared to a surplus of US$ 35.7 billion in the same period of the previous year. Exports increased 31.1% on the same basis of comparison, to US$180.2 billion, while imports rose 28.2%, to US$130.5 billion. The trade flow increased by 29.8%, to US$ 310.7 billion.
